Our story: dedication to service and nature

Servants Heart Farm began with a deep commitment to serving those who served us. Learn about our journey, our values, and the heart behind everything we do, from supporting veterans to cultivating our land responsibly.

The Servant’s Heart Farm Story

Servant’s Heart Farm began with a simple but powerful belief: people need more than temporary help—they need a safe place where they can heal, rebuild, and rediscover their purpose.

The farm grew from the work of The Servant’s Heart Corp, a faith-based nonprofit that has served people experiencing homelessness throughout Fort Collins, Loveland, and Larimer County since 2021. Through Saturday Night Street Outreach, our volunteers have delivered meals, water, clothing, blankets, tents, prayer, encouragement, and practical assistance to people living on the streets.

But we knew handing someone a meal was only the beginning.

Many of the people we met—especially veterans—needed stable housing, daily structure, meaningful work, recovery support, and a community that would continue walking beside them. They needed an opportunity to move beyond survival.

In 2022, an opportunity came that would change the direction of our ministry: the use of a 50-acre farm in northern Colorado. What others might have seen as open land, we saw as a place of restoration.

Servant’s Heart Farm officially opened in November 2025 through a partnership with Veterans Court. The first veteran participant arrived not simply as a tenant, but as someone beginning a new chapter. From that moment, the farm became much more than housing. It became a place where people could rebuild their confidence, restart their lives, and reclaim their future.

Where Healing Meets Purpose

Life at Servant’s Heart Farm is built around responsibility, accountability, faith, and meaningful work.

Through our 3Rs Program—Rebuild, Restart, and Reclaim—participants receive supportive housing while working toward long-term independence. They establish healthy routines, participate in recovery support, develop life and employment skills, volunteer in the community, and contribute to the daily operation of the farm.

Participants help care for the chickens, maintain the property, work in the greenhouse, tend the orchard, support beekeeping activities, and complete other hands-on projects. These responsibilities are not busywork. They teach consistency, teamwork, patience, problem-solving, and the value of finishing what you start.

Farm life has a way of revealing important truths.

Seeds do not become crops overnight. Trees need strong roots before they can bear fruit. Bees accomplish remarkable things by working together. Animals depend on consistent care. In the same way, rebuilding a life requires time, structure, responsibility, and people who refuse to give up on you.

A Farm Filled With New Life

Today, the farm is alive with activity.

More than 60,000 bees are working to produce raw, unfiltered honey. Hens provide fresh farm eggs. The greenhouse is producing its first crops. The Veterans Memorial Fruit Orchard is growing apples, pears, peaches, and other fruit that will eventually help feed the community.

And then there is Captain Jack—the farm’s loud, territorial rooster—who makes sure every morning begins with a reminder that farm life rarely comes with a snooze button.

Every part of the farm has a purpose. Eggs, honey, greenhouse produce, and orchard fruit can help support the ministry and provide food for people in need. More importantly, the work creates opportunities for participants to learn practical skills, serve others, and experience the dignity that comes from being needed.

Veteran-Focused and Community Supported

Servant’s Heart Farm is especially committed to serving veterans who are rebuilding their lives after homelessness, addiction, incarceration, trauma, or other significant challenges.

We believe veterans deserve more than gratitude expressed in words. They deserve real opportunities, safe housing, strong recovery support, job training, accountability, and a community willing to stand beside them.

The farm works with Veterans Court, community partners, volunteers, churches, donors, and local supporters. Every person who gives time, supplies, funding, professional knowledge, or encouragement becomes part of the farm’s story.

More Than a Handout

Servant’s Heart Farm is not built around dependency. It is built around opportunity.

We meet people where they are—but we do not leave them there.

Participants are expected to contribute, follow program requirements, respect the property, remain substance-free, participate in recovery and educational activities, complete volunteer hours, and work toward personal goals. Compassion and accountability are not opposites. Both are necessary for lasting change.

We believe dignity is non-negotiable, but we also believe accountability saves lives.

The farm provides a safe place to begin again, but each participant must take responsibility for the steps that follow.

Growing for the Future

Our vision reaches far beyond the farm’s current buildings, animals, crops, and programs.

We are working toward a future that includes expanded supportive housing, additional agricultural job training, increased food production, veteran-focused tiny homes, educational opportunities, recovery support, and stronger pathways from homelessness to permanent independence.

We envision a farm where veterans and others in need can learn a trade, reconnect with their families, strengthen their faith, rebuild their finances, restore their health, and become contributing members of the community.

We also envision the farm serving the wider community: providing fresh food, welcoming volunteers, teaching practical skills, honoring veterans, and showing what can happen when compassion is paired with structure and opportunity.

This Is the Servant’s Heart Farm Story

It is the story of land being used for a greater purpose.

It is the story of veterans discovering that their service, experience, and lives still have value.

It is the story of people moving from the street to stability, from isolation to community, and from merely surviving to living with purpose.

It is the story of chickens, bees, crops, fruit trees, hard work, second chances, and faith.

Most of all, it is a story that is still being written—one life, one seed, one harvest, and one fresh start at a time.

“Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?”
—Isaiah 58:7
